Blenda Wood

On January 5, 2026, Blenda Lee Bailey Wood (also known to her grandchildren as G-Mom) passed away at the age of 82 at her daughter’s home in Axtell, TX.

Blenda was born in Mount Calm, Tx on December 30, 1943, to Obed and Barbara Bailey. She went to Mount Calm Elementary and then onto Axtell High School, graduating in May of 1962.

During that time, she met and then married Wayne Wood on June 23, 1962. Throughout their life together, they had 2 children, Teresa and Debbie Wood.

They spent lots of time together camping, fishing, motorcycle riding and dancing, which was her favorite. She worked various occupations, while maintaining her household and providing care to her children, and grandchildren. She retired from Goodwill Industries in 2005. Since that time, she spent many weekends with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed BBQing, spending time by the pool, riding the back roads, cruising around the lakes, and playing board games, especially Wahoo. No matter the adventure or situation, there better be Funyuns, a Dr. Pepper, and above all, if you were sitting next to her, she would be holding your hand with love.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her parents Obed Sr. and Barbara, her brother Obed Jr, and sister, Bonnie Price.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa and Debbie, her grandchildren Heather Landfried and spouse Josh Cordell, Jason Landfried, and spouse Taja Landfried; great grandchildren Jacob Landfried, Tinley Cordell, and Hailey Landfried; her sister-in-law Linda Bailey and brother-in-law Eston Price; as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was a very kindhearted woman with a generous and loving spirit. She had a great impact on everyone that met her, and she will be missed dearly.
