Don Nichols, age 92, passed away June 13, 2025 in Waco.

Don was born June 24, 1932 to parents Tracy and Beaulah Nichols in Hill County, Texas. He attended Crow school and the Hillsboro High School. After high school , he moved with his family to Waco where they operated a dairy farm in Robinson. He also worked for a concrete company and poured the cement on Waco Drive from Bellmead to 18th St. While working there he was drafted into the U. S. Army where he served two years. After returning home he met and married Sharon Boyd in 1957 and they raised two boys, Gary Don and Michael Paul. Sharon passed away November 3, 1997 and he later married Janelle Callaway in 1999.

Don joined the Waco Fire Department in 1957 and rose to the rank of lieutenant before retiring in 1990. He served as the President of the Firefighters Union on three different occasions. He was active in the Democratic Party and was a member of the Robinson Church of Christ. He enjoyed gardening and trips to West and WinstarDon had a passion for playing the guitar and volunteered his time and talent playing in a small band at retirement centers and nursing homes.

Preceeded in death by his parents Tracy "Jack" and Beaulah; and wives, Sharon Nichols and Janelle Callaway Nichols.

Don is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Mike and Beth Nichols and Gary and Melinda Nichols; grandchildren and their spouses, Sharon and Todd Roper, Christi and Sam Harrington, Michael and Bonnie Nichols, Jr., Rocky and Claudia Nichols, Cody and Renae Nichols, Amy and Bobby Mercer; sisters, Jo Ann Mauppin and Pat Cargill; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
