Edward Kubiak

Dec 26, 1935 — Jul 21, 2026

Edward "Ed" Kubiak, 90, of Bellmead, Texas, passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 21, 2026. Born on December 26, 1935, in Marlin, Texas, Ed lived a life marked by quiet kindness, steady dedication, and an infectious good spirit that touched everyone around him.

Raised in Marlin, Ed enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 18 and served five years, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5. It was during his time stationed in Japan that he met the love of his life, Michiko Hamashima. The two married before Ed returned stateside, and they shared 50 wonderful years together before Michiko's passing in 2016. Ed went on to earn his bachelor's degree and spent his later career teaching within the Texas Department of Corrections, shaping lives in a place where patience and compassion were needed most.

Ed was the kind of man who woke up every morning whistling as he got ready for work, so relentlessly cheerful that his family joked it could border on annoying. He never held a grudge, never passed judgment, and was always willing to listen and offer advice when asked. He loved fishing deep into the early morning hours with Michiko by his side, and he took great pride in working in his yard and keeping up his home.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Michiko Kubiak, and his father, Kie J. Kubiak. Ed is survived by his three daughters, JoAnn Rodriguez, Susan Thompson, and Fran Kubiak, along with numerous grandchildren and loved ones who will miss his gentle presence.

"For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, live or die, we are the Lord's." Romans 14:8
