James Kenneth Kroll

James K. Kroll was a loving husband, Yankees fan, true friend, proud veteran, and family man. He was known for his quiet strength, his fierce loyalty to family and friends, his generous heart, and his love of life. He faced many hardships in life, but met each one with character and endurance. James Kenneth Kroll, 81, of Riesel, Texas, died at his home on June 13, 2025, with his wife Linda at his side.

He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1944 to Benjamin Kroll and Narva Darlou Ames Kroll. James tragically lost his mother at the age of 11, and grew up with his father in Texas, while his brothers and sisters grew up in Utah with his grandparents. He joined the armed services as a rifleman in the United States Army.

James met his wife Linda in Waco, Texas. They enjoyed 56 wonderful years together, working together in Jim’s contractor business and later working as owners of the Kroll’s Nest, a dream of Jim’s and a popular gathering place where Jim and Linda made lifelong friends. Jim loved sports, including football and especially the New York Yankees. Even as his health deteriorated, his Yankees and his Linda kept him going and brought him joy.

Jim will always be remembered for his loyalty to his friends, his strength and tenacity, his hardworking approach to life, and his love and dedication to his family. His firm handshake and his quick smile will be missed every day. Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Kroll and wife Erna Benker Kroll and Narva Darlou Ames Kroll, one sister Mary Ann Jenson, brothers Donald Ames and William Ames. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Linda Joyce Green Kroll of Riesel, Texas, and his sister and brother in law Shirley and Eddie John of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
