James Walter Nowlin Jr. ("Booger")
1958 – 2025
James Walter Nowlin Jr., affectionately known as “Booger,” passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 22, 2025, at the age of 66.
Born in 1958, James was a man known for his big heart, larger-than-life personality, and the joy he brought to everyone he met. He had a deep love for the simple pleasures of life—fishing, firing up the barbecue, and spending time with friends and family. His laugh was infectious, and his presence lit up every room he entered.
James dedicated over a decade of his life working for the Santa Fe Railroad before continuing his journey as a lockrdge priest for more than ten years. His career eventually took him overseas, where he proudly managed an ice plant for the military in Kuwait to complete his life's work.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Walter Nowlin Sr, mother, Vivian Irene Nowlin; brother, David Ray Nowlin; sister, Deborah Kay Nowlin; and nephew, Jerry Wayne McHalland.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Tamara Susan Nowlin; his children, James Mathew Nowlin, Ashley Rose Nowlin, and Daylon Collins and wife Carly Collins; sister, Lori Ann McHalland and her husband Jerry Lee McHalland; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was a proud grandfather to three cherished grandchildren—Carson, Tori, and Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers include Chris Keel, Jason Romero, Robert Womack, Hunter Sullivan, Stacy Thomas, and Calvin Dieterich.
James will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the lasting impression he left on so many lives. His legacy lives on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held at Bellmead Funeral Home, April 26th, Saturday from 5 to 7 pm
