Lena Shaw, age 84, of Mooreville, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Born on October 5, 1941, Lena’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Lena fought cancer bravely for six years, and it was the effects of radiation that ultimately caused her rapid decline. In her final months, Lena also experienced challenges with her memory and recognition. While she may not have always recognized us, we knew, in our hearts, she still knew who we were. That unspoken bond will forever remain in our hearts.
A woman of immense strength, Lena was known for being strong-willed and tenacious. Once she made up her mind, there was no stopping her. But more than anything, she was deeply loving. She would do anything for those she cared about. Her sense of humor, her beautiful smile, and the warmth she brought to every room will always be remembered.
Lena is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Natalie Smith; her parents, Rufus and Eva Lena Thrasher; her brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Lana Thrasher; her nephew, Jason Thrasher; and her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Keith Hague.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Charles Shaw Sr.; her son, Charles Shaw Jr.; her sisters, Gloria Turnage and Wanda Mason; her grandchildren, Zach and Kassie Fitzhugh, Kymber Shaw, and Tanner and Josey Shaw; and her great-grandchildren, Bentley and Jase Fitzhugh, and Aurora, Enzo, and Briar Shaw. Lena also leaves behind many extended family members and cherished friends, all of whom will miss her deeply.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bellmead Funeral Home.Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 24th, at 1:00 p.m., also at Bellmead Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Rosemound Cemetery.
Lena’s legacy is one of unwavering love, unyielding strength, and a heart full of kindness. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit and love will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed.
