Mary Hargrove McDonald passed from this life on Friday July 4, 2025.
Mary was the sixth child born to Arthur Joseph and Bessie Pearl Hargrove on a farm north of Prairie Hill, Limestone County, Texas. Mary received Christ at an early age. She graduated from Prairie Hill High School in 1946. She met V. T. McDonald in high school and married him in 1946. He was the love of her life. They lived in Grand Prairie, Texas and had three children. In 1984, after V. T. retired, they moved to Bellmead, Texas where V. T. raised cattle.
Mary was a hairdresser, an avid quilter, winning many awards in Waco and Houston. V. T. died in July 2008. Her faith in God was evident. She was a loving wife and mother. She loved her pastor, Rev. Fred Sain, his wife Sally and all the members of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, V. T.; daughter, Denise McDonald and a great grandson, Thomas Seidel McDonald; sisters, Wanda Massey, Geneva Russell, Doris Fuller, Lorene Worthy, Joan Brown Burge; nephews, A. J. Worthy, Cosby Fuller and Timothy Brown; nieces, Paula Flatley and Jill Burge.
Survivors are a daughter, Vee Elizabeth Potter of Tyler, Texas; a son, MSgt. John D. McDonald, USAF, Ret. and his wife, Dorothy S. McDonald of Conroe, Texas; grandson, Clint W. Bauer and wife, Michelle and their twin daughters, Melina and Karina of Richardson, Texas; grandsons, Joshua J. McDonald of Fort Worth, Texas and Chaplain Major Peter J. McDonald, US Army and his wife, Abby and great granddaughters, Leah Joy, Emily Hope and Zoey Grace of Conroe, Texas; granddaughter, Elizabeth McDonald Peevey and husband, Patrick of El Paso, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prairie Hill Baptist Church, P. O. Box 9, Prairie Hill, Texas 76678 in memory of Mary McDonald.
