Nancy Tom Sterck Vaughan Owens, much beloved mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, died peacefully on June 20, 2026 in Waco, Tx, at the age of 92. She was born in Dallas, on Dec 18, 1933, to Rev. Dr. Thomas and Marie (Trent) Sterck. Nancy was a kindergarten teacher for five years in the '50s at Denver Ave Elementary School in Fort Worth, and later subbed for teacher friends in FWISD. She was a graduate of Paschal High School and Texas Christian University.
In 1955 Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Doug Vaughan. They had two sons, Tom, and David. In 1992 she married Rev. Carl Owens. They enjoyed, cooking, canning, reading, and traveling. For most of her life, she enjoyed her mountain homes in Sacramento, NM and Cloudcroft, NM.
Nancy always looked forward to seeing her granddaughters, Libby and Chloe. They were the lights of her life. Nancy was proceeded in death by her parents, son Tom Vaughan, brother Dr. David Sterck, and husband Rev. Carl Owens. She is survived by her son, David, daughter-in-law, Carol, and granddaughters, Libby, and Chloe.
A private family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park at a future date.
