Rebecca “Becky” Ann Gilbert (Donnell), age 85, of Waco, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2025. Becky was born on May 23, 1940, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Becky was known for her caring heart and joyful spirit. She was the kind of woman who couldn’t help but take care of others—whether it was family, friends, a neighbor, or even a stray animal that crossed her path. Compassion came naturally to her, and she lived out Colossians 3:12: “Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
She loved watching true crime shows, playing word games on her iPad, and enjoying her favorite sweets with a glass of wine. Becky was full of life and laughter, and she never missed a chance to share a meal or host a dinner for anyone who stopped by. She was a talented cook, an avid golfer, and a proud member of her local bowling league. Even into her later years, Becky devoted herself to helping others as a home caretaker for the elderly—serving joyfully until she no longer could.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Ronnie Gilbert; and sons Mike Lewis, Brad Gilbert, and Matthew Gilbert. She is survived by her son Scott Lewis; daughter Vicki Hurst and husband John; stepson Ron and wife Enza Fanjo Gilbert; grandchildren Clayton Merritt and wife Ashley, Kayla Fuentes and husband Nick, Preston Merritt, and Grant Gilbert; great-grandchildren Zoie Merritt, Hendrix Merritt, Lincoln Fuentes, Emmett Fuentes, and Nolan Fuentes; and many more nieces, nephews, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
Becky’s family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace, resting in the promise of Luke 7:50 — “Then He said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.’”
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Bellmead Funeral Home, 809 LaClede St., Bellmead, TX 76705.
Flowers may be sent directly to the funeral home.
Becky will be remembered for her kindness, her servant’s heart, and the way she made everyone feel loved. Her faith and compassion continue to live on through the family she cherished so deeply.
