Vance Steve Stone, 74, of Waco passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 29, 2025 in Waco.
Vance was born on June 24, 1951 in Waco, Texas to Earl Forest Stone and Vera Irene Miller Stone. He graduated from LaVega High School in 1970.
He begin his working career working at Jack & Jill Donuts during High School. After graduation, he worked at Tommy Harper Construction before starting his own company Stone Construction in Waco. He owned his business for 38 years before retiring in 2017.
Vance and Joy were married in 1998 in Waco, Texas. He was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church and at one point was an officer. He is remembered as many things, but most of all as a prankster. He loved to play jokes and make people laugh. His priority every morning for the day was to see who he would meet and what he could play on them. He was a bee charmer. He loved to fish and go to car shows, but his true passion was genealogy. He was always looking for the family genealogy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Forest and Vera Irene Stone and a brother, Louis Stone.
Vance is survived by his wife, Joy Stone; daughter, Jaclyn Clay and husband Christopher; son Micheal Stone and wife Cathy; two brothers, Clinton Stone and wife Mary Ann, and Lon Stone; sister, Laraine Romine and husband Wayne; six grandchildren, Jordyn Thomas, Jalyn Booker and husband Tyler, Zachary Stone and wife Juhree, Bradley Stone, Christopher Stone and Joshua Stone; and two great-grandchildren.
