William Ryan Mayo lived a life that could never be described as small. He brought energy wherever he went, spoke his mind freely, and had a personality people didn’t forget. He could make you laugh when you didn’t expect it and cared deeply, especially for the people he loved.
Above all else, he was a father.
His son, Declan, was the center of his life and his greatest purpose. He devoted himself completely to raising Declan, serving as his steady parent, protector, and everyday presence through school days, milestones, and the quiet moments in between.
Whether you knew him as BillBoy, Billy, Uncle BB, Will, or William, he was more than any moment in time — he was a dad, a son, a brother, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin, and a friend whose presence filled a room and whose absence is deeply felt.
He is survived by his parents, John and Deenna Mayo, and Jack and Jan Burk; his son, Declan Carter Mayo; and his siblings and their families:
· Corey Mayo and wife Dena, with their children Alexus (spouse Seth) and Dalton;
· Johnny Mayo and wife Natasha, with their children Kaidyn and Austin;
· Austin Burk and wife Crystal;
· Tanya Tolleson with her children, Alyssa (spouse Arturo), Tristyn, and Wyatt;
· Jake Staats and wife Brooke, with their children Landon, Riley, Bradley, and Hunter;
· Grant Burk;
· Lauren Staats with her children, Allie and Seth.
He is also survived by his grandmother, Nellie Landree, many aunts and uncles, including Judy and Rick May, Cindy Daily, Dan and Debbie Temple, Randal and Dale Ward, and Jason Landree; and by his cousins Mark, Chris, Deanne, Dane, Justin, Wesley, Stevie, Amy, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen and Anne Mayo, and Joyce Willson; his Uncle Steve Stephenson; and his beloved brother, Jeffrey Kiel Mayo.
William will be remembered for his big personality, his fierce love for his family, and the laughter he left behind. Those who loved him will hold onto the good moments, the stories, and above all, the love he had for his son.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Bellmead Funeral Home on March 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, William’s family has created a 529 college fund for Declan to help carry forward the future William always hoped for his son. Contributions may be made at: https://go.fidelity.com/gza6ti.
